2022 Yamaha Outboard F425A Wins IBEX Innovation Award
Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. announced that the 4-stroke F425A outboard motor (425 horsepower, the most powerful in Yamaha’s lineup) has won the IBEX Innovation Award.
Presented during the IBEX (International Boat Builders’ Exhibition & Conference) international marine trade fair held in Tampa, Florida from 2-4 October 2018, this award is assessed and announced annually and consists of 13 categories, such as Shipbuilding Methods & Materials, Systems Mechanics, and Outboard Engines.
The Awards Program is administered by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and assessments are carried out by Boating Writers International (BWI) members selected for their outstanding specialist knowledge.
The assessment is carried out based on various criteria, such as being breakthrough compared to existing products, providing benefits to the marine industry and consumers, being practical, and being very cost effective.
The highest output model in the class, the F425A is powered by 5,559 . newly developed cm3 4-stroke V8 engine that delivers a maximum of 425 horsepower, Yamaha said in a press release.
This power unit has the first application in a direct 4-stroke outboard motor of direct injection technology, which sprays fuel at high pressure and high precision directly into each combustion chamber of the intake line, as well as the Integrated Electric Steering System, which eliminates the need for a link or line. hydraulics.
Combined with the Helm Master joystick control interface and the CL7TM 7-inch color touch screen, the F425A also provides high operational comfort. After launching in North America from August 2018, the F425A is planned to be rolled out progressively in other key markets such as Europe, Australia and Japan.
